1. Information We Collect
When you use Startbahn Career, we collect:
- Account information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials managed by Supabase Auth.
- Resume data: The text content extracted from your uploaded resume, including skills, experience, and education. Original files are processed for text extraction and are not permanently stored.
- Job tracking data: Jobs you track, application statuses, notes, and preparation materials you create.
- Interview session data: Audio transcripts and AI-generated feedback from mock interview sessions. Video frame captures are processed in your browser for body language analysis and are not stored on our servers.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and AI action counts for rate limiting.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide personalized career preparation tools such as resume tailoring, interview practice, and study guides.
- Generate AI-powered insights and recommendations specific to your background and target roles.
- Improve our AI models and service quality using aggregated, anonymized data only.
- Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
3. Data We Never Sell
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Period.
4. AI Processing
Startbahn Career uses Google Gemini AI to generate resume analysis, interview questions, company research, and other preparation materials. Your data is sent to Google's API for processing. Google's data usage is governed by their API terms of service. We do not use your data to train AI models.
5. Video and Audio
During mock interviews, audio is recorded and transcribed for feedback generation. Video frame captures are processed entirely in your browser for body language analysis and are never uploaded to our servers. You can opt out of video analysis at any time and use audio-only mode. Consent is always requested before any recording begins.
6. Data Storage and Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Authentication is handled by Supabase with industry-standard security practices.
- The database is hosted on managed PostgreSQL with automated backups.
- We follow OWASP security best practices in our application code.
7. Guest Mode
You can use Startbahn Career without creating an account. In guest mode, your data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data is not transmitted to our servers until you create an account and explicitly migrate it.
8. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Settings page. Upon account deletion, all personal data, resume content, tracked jobs, interview sessions, and preparation materials are permanently removed within 30 days.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of Startbahn Career after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
